Yes, Judo is generally considered a safe martial art. Safety is a paramount concern in Judo, and the sport has established rules and regulations to minimize the risk of injury during training and competitions. Additionally, judoka (Judo practitioners) are trained to be aware of their partner's well-being and are taught to execute techniques with control and precision. The emphasis on proper falling techniques (ukemi) is a fundamental aspect of Judo training, which helps reduce the risk of injury when thrown. Furthermore, the use of mats in training and competitions provides a cushioned surface that further enhances safety. Absolutely! Our classes are conducted throughout the entire year, ensuring a consistent and ongoing learning experience for our participants. We only take a brief pause to observe the Christmas holiday, providing a continuous and dedicated training environment for our members. Join us in maintaining a year-round commitment to growth, development, and the enjoyment of our martial arts community.
Judo Gi (Uniform): If you already have a Judo gi, it's best to wear it. A Judo gi typically consists of a jacket (uwagi) and pants (zubon). The gi should be made of sturdy cotton to withstand the rigors of training. If you don't have a gi yet, it's usually acceptable to wear a clean, well-fitting sweatshirt and sweatpants for your first class. Clean and Comfortable Clothing: Ensure that whatever you wear is clean and in good condition. Avoid clothing with zippers, buttons, or anything that might cause discomfort to you or your training partners during throws or groundwork. Bare Feet: Judo is practiced barefoot, so you won't need special footwear. Make sure your feet are clean. Remove Jewelry: Take off any jewelry, including rings, necklaces, and earrings, to prevent injury to yourself and others.
